This is a different kind of subscription service. You go to the website and pick a “contributor” you would like to receive a box from. The contributors range from CEO’s, authors, Chef’s, world traveler, business owners, etc. The cost is $25 per contributor and they will mail you an item every 4 months. The $25 is charged quarterly and usually about a month before you receive your item. So far I’ve picked two contributors and one item I got was nice but not something I’m super excited about. The other one was great and I’m very happy with. I didn’t get value over the $25 I paid on either one. This is fun if you’re looking for something completely different from the usual subscription boxes or are a fan of any of the contributors. You can read my full review of my first box here. http://www.everyonelovesatreasure.blogspot.com My second review will be coming shortly.

They try, but don’t hit the mark. I had two subscriptions. One I was charged for (twice) and it never arrived. The second arrived and was a disappointment. Their customer services tries hard to be responsive, for which I give them credit, but either they are too overwhelmed with business and need more help, or they need better systems in place. Overall, not good value for money, and the one box I did receive was very uninteresting (and leaking).

Check out my reviews of quarterly.co and almost every other subscription box here: http://subscriptionaddiction.blogspot.com

I really like quarterly’s model. My only caution is to be careful about who you pick as the curator of the box. I subscribe to “no more dirty looks” and “food52″ so I know I’ll always get beauty and food products. A lot of the other boxes are far more general so the odds are likely the box will be a miss more often than a hit.

I followed Maud Newton. I was sorely disappointed with the value of this subscription. I paid 25 dollars to receive one “expertly curated” paperback book and a coupon for one Amazon episode of Breaking Bad. The least they could have done was make it a hardback. I have cancelled my subscription. Not worth what you pay for. It took forever for the package to arrive, I was concerned I would be charged for another package before even one had arrived but they got it to me barely under the wire.

I subscribe to Veronica Belmont’s Quarterly offering and all three boxes so far have been great. She features food items from San Fransisco, and tries to include a savory and a sweet item each time and they’ve all been interesting and delicious. I really like the quarterly model too, and feel like enough time has passes between boxes that I’m getting an unexpected present when I open my mailbox.
