This month’s box was a lot of fun, think wineries and spas as Napa Valley comes to you in a box. As a mom I don’t get to take a lot of vacations that aren’t kid themed so this is a fun monthly treat. You can read my full review complete with pictures of the August box on my blog http://mommymoneyworld.com/2013/08/escape-monthly-subscription-box-review-august-2013-coupon-code/

The Escape box was OK… I guess I expected more. It’s not a bad box per se, but it didn’t WOW me at all. For the price, I felt that the contents were kind of cheap, candles seemed “dollar store” quality, yea was nice, bath salts were nice, 2 soaps, at least one of them could have been a full size, loofah-cheap, lip balm-cheap. Book ok if you are planning a trip to the wine country, which I am not. I’m giving it 3 stars, I belong to lots of monthly box subscriptions that I LOVE, four others that I’ve been with over a year. I’ll try this again for another month but so fat I’m not sold..,

I am thrilled with my first box from Escape Monthly. The value, I found to be better than most. The coupon for a just about free case of wine from Napa Valley exceeded the cost of the subscription box alone. I also appreciated the theme presented and the products chosen. It provides a literal time of escape that is spa quality while never leaving the comfort of home. I look forward to future ‘escapes’ each month. Thank you!!

I enjoyed the first escape monthly box. I do not drink but it was nice to get a gift card worth $50 when I pay $40 (with the special code yourescape) for the whole box! I am hoping they include more food and more exotic locations in upcoming boxes. I really enjoyed the bath scrub and mud mask. Use this link to escape today!

I liked this box. I live in West Texas so it is a drive to get to even a wal-mart. I used this box when my husband went on a fishing trip so I could “get away” as well. Also, used the wine gift card. Got another $40 after I placed my order as well! Can’t complain there… The different products were just enough to last me through the weekend so it was a nice treat! totally worth the money to me. It’s nice to have it delivered to your door. Can’t wait to see where next month takes me!

I absolutely loved this box and will continue to subscribe to this company. The box was full of items: travel handbook for Napa & Sonoma, Mineral Essence Dead Sea Bath Salt, Tiesta Loose Leaf Tea, Napa Valley Wine Soap, All Natural Loofa Bath Sponge, Deluxe Floating Bath Candles, 100% Pure Juicy Sugar Body Soap, Cookie Zen: Cookie and Cork Pairing Essentials, 7th Heaven Natural Face Mask, and Mixture Luscious Lip Balm. This box also included a $50.00 gift card for wine. They also gave away a trip for 2 to Napa, which is a monthly staple to give away a vacation trip to the featured location. The insert for the box was high quality as well. Subscribe and you will be amazed. I know I was!

My second box was good. I liked the entire contents Except the big travel book. It takes up to much space. A smaller travel guide is needed. Lower the cost too. Its really too expensive. I may do one or two more but then I’m done.

I absolutely love this box. The value, (not counting coupons/gift cards that require you pay more to get something), has always exceeded the price so I’m sure to get at least the box cost in items that I like. Best of all, the travel themes are fun and informative.

Each month you get a nice sized travel guide and a selection of items related to the region. My rule is that the more hours of enjoyment I get from the items in the box, the better, so the guides are just the right size. The August box was Napa. I’ve been there dozens of times. The guide provided great information I didn’t know and had never read in any other guide. September’s box contained, among other things, a handmade cinnamon scented beeswax candle that lasts 25 hours. I already ordered more :)

Every month they also give one trip to the destination to one subscriber. While $50 is a little high for a subscription box, I do think you get your money’s worth, get to discover new products you love and the possibility of winning the trip is a bonus.

Just received the Escape Oregon box. I absolutely love it. I have received others but this is my favorite. Lots of goodies. I’m looking forward to using everything in it and that something that I cannot say about any other box. Included are the Moon Oregon travel guide, Doug’s nuts, Metolius Tea and apothecary, Molly Muriel volcanic bliss soap, Oregon Orchard hazelnuts, nice bottle of Oregon Rose lotion, Portland Bee Balm, Primitive lights beeswax cinnamon roll votive that smells wonderful. Grounds for Change northwest roasted coffee and a wooden pumice brush. The items total twice what I spent and the best is that I love and will use everything.

I so enjoyed getting the Oregon box. I loved the smell just taking it out of the mailbox and could not wait to open it. That wonderful smell was from a cinnamon roll candle.

The Oregon rain lotion in rose reminded me of walking through the International test rose garden in Portland. There was tea for me and coffee for my husband. Doug’s Nuts and Oregon Hazelnuts. Volcanic soap and Portland bee balm for my lips.

I also am enjoying the Moon book on Oregon. It is so nice to read about other things to do in Oregon that I have not yet got to do.

More than worth the cost of the box. I am looking forward to next month and my box from Escape monthly.

I received both the Napa and Oregon boxes, I liked the Napa box but I live in NorCal so I was alright. Now if I live farther away and not so familar with Napa, I would have been excited about the box. The Oregon box is also alright, I do love Oregon products (lotion is a little strong) a nice Oregon Rain room spray would have been nice instead of the lotion. Looking forward to Hawaii. Only issue is the cost, compare to other subscription boxes, this one is expensive, I get it for $39 and it’s still pretty steep so I am not sure how long I can afford to subscribe because I love to travel but just cant afford to and this is the next best thing!

I absolutely love this subscription! The products are full-sized and have excellent quality. In my last box (Oregon-themed), there was a rose lotion made with Oregon rain, and it smells amazing! The tea was delicious. I look forward to this box every month, and it’s well worth the money. The only improvement I would make is the shipper service (i.e., maybe ship via UPS instead of USPS).

I received both the Napa box and Oregon box, I liked both boxes, its worth the price. I did not use a few products from each box, just re gifted because I am picky (example in the Oregon box I am not a fan of Rose scented things so the lotion will go to a friend) but all in all The boxes are worth the price.

I had a Groupon to try it out for $25 and it was worth the price! My first box was Ireland which is somewhere I’d like to go someday but not on the top of my list. They will have to wait until I get through the places I REALLY need to see. The box had a great info book, chocolate that was probably I’ve ever tasted in my entire life and was full sized, shortbread cookies, Irish Cream coffee, safe skin care lotion which has helped my dermatitis, a big box of Soda bread mix and a box of tea bags. Honestly, nothing there that I WONT use! I LOVE the big guide books with all the info on the country.
FYI… If anyone is looking for a BEAUTIFUL, friendly, English speaking and VERY SAFE place for a vacation, try Belize. Look into staying on Ambergris Caye in San Pedro. Trust me, I’ve been there twice and the only reason I won’t be going back for a while is because we want to travel to other places. You can shop, they have handcrafted wood and jewelry items that they make right there. I had a craftsman carve me a big beautiful hardwood vase in the 2 weeks I was there. You can Scuba, snorkel, see MANY different beautiful Mayan Ruins. I cannot speak more highly about the safety on the island! It is how they make money so locals we’ve gotten to know told us that they do not let criminals live there, they only have those working on or owning businesses living on island, those who want the business so they keep it safe for the tourists. Funny thing is, many business owners are actually Ex-Pats from the US who fell in love with the place!

Box not worth the price. I don’t want a paperback book about the wine country. I want things make you feel as though you are escaping to California, not driving directions to wineries and hotels. When I think California that could fit in a box, I think pistachio nuts, sourdough bread, Sees candies, Ghirardelli Chocolate, berries (it coud be treeze dried), Trader Joes, Jelly Belly, several well known tea, coffee and juice companies – none of these were included in the box.
What it did contain is one serving of cactus water, 1.56 oz granola, 1 oz. chips, and two small melted chocolates from companies that say they distribute from California, not even necessarily produced in California. There were poppy seeds for planting… cute, but won’t tolerate hot climates per the enclosed literature. The other unrelated items were a sponge, hand cream and a bar of soap- not sure of anything that makes them “luxury” items or even produced in California.

Same travel book as last month that tells you what hotels are there and not even reviews of the hotels. It’s useful if you’re actually going to Nevada, not right for imaginary escape. Better information is available on the internet. It’s retail price for the souvenirs that the casinos give for free and melted chocolate. My toffee didn’t come in a box as described, it was just wrapped in plastic with the chocolate stuck to the plastic. Last month I didn’t get the gift card shown in the picture of the box on their website either. From my vantage point, the picture is misleading. Last two months they’ve sent chocolate that arrives melted since the shipping method is 3 day and the weather is in the 90’s.

Overall the box was fine. Some of the products were a lot of fun, but there could have definitely been a few more and a little bit more diversity in the box. What really bothered me about this subscription was the user experience. I entered the site only wanting to purchase one month as a gift. I couldn’t find that option so I ended up subscribing with the intent to cancel immediately after. Fast forward 3 months: I am still getting billed for the boxes even though they are not arriving and I am being told by their customer service that the email I sent in canceling needed to be responded before they’d cancel. It has been a great ordeal and their customer service has been atrocious. It has put a very sour taste in my mouth and I would not recommend this service to anyone.
